Mincemeat recipe.


The Meredith family recipe has been passed down through generations. Certain amounts, like the pottle of apples, are no longer in use.

The Meredith mincemeat (Rosedale) recipe

A pottle of apples (i.e. 6 pounds)
Spy or Greenings
2 lbs. of raisins (seeded muscatel, if available) * be generous
3 lbs. of currants
2 lbs. of light brown sugar
2 oz. citron peel * be generous
2 oz. lemon peel
2 oz. orange peel
½ lb. suet
Rind and juice of 2 lemons
1 small nutmeg (grated)
½ pt. brandy
1 cup almonds * blanched and cut up

Cook together for 2 hours.
Minimum heat on stove top, stir from time to time.
Except brandy—add at the end.
