Baklava: memories of childhood

Visitor Exhibition in room, , Hors Canada

My Arabic grandfather makes baklava, a dessert made of phyllo, walnuts, cardamom, sugar and butter. It is crunchy and sweet, sticky yet flaky. I don’t have it often but when I do (whether made by my grandfather or mother), it makes me think of my childhood, family history, religion and love.
