Le 1608 cheese label

Le 1608 is a cheese produced in the Charlevoix region. Its name and especially the illustration on its label recall the early colony, Charlevoix landscape and herd of Canadian cows.

Unique to Canada, the Canadian cow developed out of the cattle imported from France between 1608 and 1660. The breed, which practically disappeared from the region in the 20th century, was reintroduced in Charlevoix in 2007. It is therefore historically linked to the region’s terroir.
